Story Responses Pack: Sparking a Passion

Story Responses UKA4 Front Cover smallYes I have already let you know about the Story Responses pack. I said to myself  am not going to go on and on about it. Just check it out!

But…

I am so proud of this product.

As usual, the Story Responses pack has been tested out in the classroom. It has really worked for me and is so versatile.

This product is ideal for the classroom in literacy lessons, guided reading, guided writing and book corners or, if you want, just go crazy and try it out in your school library.

It has templates to assist students with story planning, describing characters, describing settings, creating dialogue and thinking of problems and dilemmas for stories.

But it is more than that.

It gets children talking. Talking about books they love with the book review templates, talking about their favourite characters, talking about alternative endings for books and talking about comparisons with other authors and books.

I believe in and promote all the Resource Angel products but I love this one because there are so many aspects to books and stories that children are not necessarily exposed to.

The 20p treat from the local market stall

A treat for me was to read books on a Saturday night with my dad. Captain Pugwash, Rupert the Bear, any Enid Blyton book and so many others.WholeNewWorld25 colour

We discussed books, we bought them from a local market stall on a Saturday (20p a book!) and that has encouraged my love of reading now. I dream about holidays so I can get through my book list! I enjoy getting lost in a second hand book shop. I can even be spotted in a bookshop with a cup of tea and a pile of books in front of me.

Sing from the rooftops

These days we are in a world of tablets, of video games and multiple TV channels. I don’t like to sound old before my time because I appreciate new technology. However, when a child finds a book they like, I want to encourage them to sing it from the rooftops!

Its not just about enabling them to enjoy reading and writing now. It’s about sparking a passion that will last them for the rest of their lives.

When they, themselves, have created a story I like seeing the pride in their faces as they share their creativity with their friends.

This pack aims to bring those nostalgic moments to the modern day classroom. The templates are simple. Just prompt their minds and let the children do the work.

Let them tell their version of the story. Let them tell create with their imagination. Let them introduce to you the world they have inside their minds.

Its not just about enabling them to enjoy reading and writing now. It’s about sparking a passion that will last them for the rest of their lives.
